Addie makes sure the box is stuffed

Thursday night, Addie Broyles, food writer for the Statesman and social media maven, hosted her monthly “Appetizers with Addie” and invited friends (virtual and otherwise) to volunteer in Product Recovery, packing boxes for Hurricane Ike evacuees in Houston.

Addie uses Facebook and her blog to organize her events and usually hosts them at a restaurant where food and adult beverages abound. This time she came where the food lives in boxes and the adult beverages are non-existent. We thank you, Addie.

She was so kind and generous with her time. After a quick instruction, she and her group jumped in and started packing.

Product Recovery volunteers are welcome Thursday nights from 4-9 p.m. This is a unique opportunity to support the community, meet some cool folks and work with The X Man (Xavier Perez, Product Recovery Manager).
