leonard-reed3Three years ago, Leonard Reed came to Austin after Hurricane Katrina forced him to leave the only home he’d ever known. He brought with him two pair of pants, two shirts, a pair of shoes and a few personal hygiene items. He didn’t know a single person in Austin, and somehow he discovered the Ministry of Challenge, a CAFB Partner Agency in East Austin, where he eats lunch every day.

Leonard said he’s grateful for the fresh, hot food. “The meals are excellent. We choose from different vegetables, rice or potatoes. It’s a full menu!”

Leonard said he doesn’t receive government assistance, and is looking forward to collecting his social security benefits soon.
