We’ve often said, “hunger has no season,” and grocery partners H-E-B, Central Market and Randalls have used this as a call to action. Through in-store campaigns like H-E-B Help End Hunger, Randalls’ Good Neighbor Program and partnering with Souper Bowl of Caring, they’ve made it easy for you to help fill our clients’ pantries while filling your own. Today, they deepened their commitment to ending hunger year-round by launching the “Fill the Barrel, Feed the Need” in-store giving program. It starts with 13 Randalls and 20 H-E-B stores and will expand to reach the goal of collecting one million pounds of food annually. Watch this morning’s press event on YouTube.
The food collection barrels are located at the entrance of participating stores. Some stores will offer pre-packaged bags for sale. You can also download our free iPheedANeed iPhone App which features a list of most needed items.
Here’s a convenient map of participating stores which we’ll continue to update as more stores come on board.
Send us your pictures!
We need your support to reach our goal of one million pounds donated each year. Show how you helped us reach the goal by emailing a photo of you and your donation next to the barrel to firstname.lastname@example.org. We’ll add it to our “Fill the Barrel, Feed the Need” Flickr photo album. Are you on twitter? You can also send us your TwitPic to @events4good.
