September 9, 2010 § Leave a comment

Everybody has a hunger story.

Yes everyone.

Maybe you didn’t experience hunger directly, but if you live in central Texas, then you have been confronted with devastating effects of hunger in a community.  It’s all around us, often lurking in the shadows of shame, pride and anxiety.  Maybe you witnessed a classmate acting out because he or she was irritable from missing a meal.   Maybe you’ve heard stories of your parents or grandparents finding creative ways to prevent their children from experiencing a skipped meal. It could be that you’ve seen a person on the street holding a sign asking for food and you chose (or chose not to) provide food. Share why you continue to read our stories and how it has shaped your thoughts about hunger in central Texas. Share your own experience and what you observe happening in your community. Share your vision of what a hunger-free community looks like.
