Hunger Action Month Way of the Day: Organize a Call-in

September 14, 2010 § Leave a comment

Today, we turn our efforts to advocacy and the Child Nutrition Reauthorization. Child hunger is a huge problem nationwide and especially in Texas. Texas is #2 in child hunger. Of the 48,000 central Texans relying on us each week, 20,000 are children.

We urge Congress to fund and pass H.R. 5504, the Child Nutrition Reauthorization, before September 30, without cutting any other anti-hunger programs.

Get together with friends today and organize a call-in. Please send this message to your U.S. Senators Cornyn and Hutchison, and your U.S. House Representatives.

Tell them:

  • H.R. 5504 will help hungry children by expanding access to school meals, making sure they are ready to learn all day long.
  • H.R. 5504 will help CAFB and other food banks expand successful Kids Cafe & summer meals programs.
  • It is important to me that this program does not raid SNAP (Food Stamp) funding
